Japanese researchers found that after six months of infection with the new coronavirus, 98% of the infected people still have antibodies, and the more severe the disease, the stronger the antibodies.

Japanese media such as Japan Broadcasting Association Television Station and Kyodo News reported on the 2nd that a research team at Yokohama City University in Japan targeted 376 people who were infected with the COVID-19 virus from February to May and eventually recovered. They analyzed blood samples six months after the infection and found that 98% There are still neutralizing antibodies in the human body.

The age range of the study subjects was 20 to 70 years old. There were 280 asymptomatic infections and mild patients, 71 moderately ill patients, and 25 severely ill patients.

Among asymptomatic infections and mild patients, 97% still have neutralizing antibodies; 100% of moderate and severe patients still have neutralizing antibodies. The study also found that people with more severe symptoms have stronger antibodies and less likely to be infected again.

This is Japan’s first survey of neutralizing antibodies in hundreds of people half a year after infection. The research team intends to further analyze the antibody situation in the body one year after infection.
