This production line has not only attracted the attention of many states in Brazil, but also aroused interest in many countries in Latin America. .

Reuters reported on the 10th that a number of Latin American countries, including Guentin, Peru, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Honduras, expressed their desire to purchase the “Clearfone” COVID-19 vaccine from Brazil because the price of this vaccine is higher than that of European and American pharmaceutical companies. The governor of Brazil’s Sao Paulo state, Joao Doria, said at a press conference on Thursday that the state’s biomedical research center, Butantan Institute, plans to complete the filling and production of 1 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine every day. Prepare for the vaccination schedule on January 25.

Doria said that 11 states in Brazil have contacted the Butantan Institute and want to buy the “Kellyford” vaccine. He said that the price of the vaccine for the Brazilian states and cities outside of Sao Paulo is US$10.30, which is only a fraction of the price of the COVID-19 vaccine for American and European pharmaceutical companies.

Butantan Research Institute has begun to build a new factory, and plans to start production from scratch in September 2021, instead of buying large quantities from China and then repackaging.

On Thursday, Brazilian Health Minister Eduardo Pazuello promised in an exclusive radio interview that everyone in Brazil will be vaccinated next year. However, the Brazilian government is under increasing pressure, and many governors criticized the federal government for not being prepared for mass vaccination and failing to ensure a diversified supply of vaccines.

Pazoeiro reiterated that the Brazilian Ministry of Health will purchase any effective vaccine approved by the National Health Supervision Agency (ANVISA) and reasonably priced, which opens the door for Brazil to purchase Chinese vaccines.

However, Brazilian President Bolsonaro has made it clear that he will not buy Chinese vaccines and is skeptical of Chinese vaccines.

Despite this, Sao Paulo Governor Doria is very optimistic about China’s vaccines. He once praised China’s “Kierlafore” as the safest and most promising vaccine. State citizens are vaccinated against China.

Doria has revealed that the State of São Paulo may use the Chinese vaccine based on the approval of other countries’ health supervision agencies. He worried that the independence of Brazil’s National Health Inspection Agency would be interfered. He said that if the regulatory agencies in the United States, Europe, and especially Asia approve, the State of São Paulo will consider the appropriate use of this vaccine.

The epidemic in Brazil is still continuing, and the second wave of the epidemic is fierce. Since November this year, the number of new infections and confirmed cases nationwide has risen to the level of May when the epidemic was the worst. At present, Brazil has a total of nearly 6.8 million confirmed cases and a total of nearly 180,000 deaths. The number of deaths from the COVID-19 disease is second only to the United States.
