Senegal buys 200K doses of COVID-19 vaccines from China. Senegal buys 200,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine from Sinopharm Group, giving priority to three groups of people. China’s 200,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine are being sent to Senegal.
On the morning of February 17, the charter plane dispatched by the Senegalese government to transport the Sinopharm China Biotech Covid-19 vaccine, arrived in Beijing and packed at the airport, and then set off for the return flight. It is expected to arrive in Senegal in the early morning of the 18th Pacific Time.
This is the first batch of vaccines China exported to Senegal and the first batch of vaccines China exported to countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
According to Sinopharm Group, China’s bio-COVID-19 inactivated vaccine has been approved for sale in China on December 30, 2020, and more than 30 million key populations have been vaccinated. The COVID-19 vaccine was approved for registration and marketing in the UAE, Bahrain, and Bolivia on December 9, 2020, December 13, and February 5, 2020. It has been vaccinated or used in emergency in 20 countries around the world.
On February 4, Senegal approved the emergency use of the Sinopharm China Bio-COVID-19n Inactivated Vaccine. According to media reports, Senegal’s Council of Ministers has issued a statement stating that three groups of people will be given priority in vaccinating the COVID-19 vaccine: medical staff, patients with comorbidities and the elderly. The above three types of people account for 20% of the total population of the country.
