A congressional panel in Brazil is preparing to sue Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro for his misleading during COVID-19 pandemic, which caused hundreds thousands deaths in Brazil.
This panel has been seeking to blame Bolsonaro’s policies for the deaths of more than 300,000 Brazilians and push this lawsuit process, but obviously encountered the delay due to opposition from members of Congress from the president’s side.
The panel also blamed Bolsonaro pushed unproven COVID-19 drug treatments such as hydroxychloroquine. The panel will release the report with about 1,200-page report later this week.
Bolsonaro, for example, was being accused for 11 crimes , including aggravated homicide, epidemic, quackery and incitement to crime.
The president postponed the purchase of vaccines, campaigned against immunizing agents and promoted drugs that were proven to be ineffective in the treatment of coronavirus.
Something of a possible rift among lawmakers is the indictment of one of their peers, the eldest son of the president and alternate member of the CPI, Flávio Bolsonaro (Patriota-RJ), for disseminating fake News.
The other two political sons of the president, councilor Carlos Bolsonaro and deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro would also be indicted for the same offense.
As published this Sunday by the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo , the report predicted that the Bolsonaro government would have acted with intent in the covid-19 pandemic. “The federal government created a situation of impermissible risk, reprehensible by any cost-benefit calculation, exposed lives to concrete danger and did not take effective measures to minimize the result, and can do so. In the eyes of the law, the attribution of intent is legitimate (intention to cause damage, by action or omission)”, says an excerpt from the document published by the journal.
