Japan requires all people arriving from U.S. to be quarantined at a designated place for 3 days.
The Japanese government announced on December 22nd that in order to prevent the further expansion of Omicron infection, from 0:00 local time on the 25th, people entering the United States from all regions of the United States must be quarantined and observed in designated facilities for 3 days.
Previously, this requirement only applied to travelers from certain states in the United States.
The Japanese government said that travelers from New York and Hawaii will still be required to quarantine at these facilities for 6 days.
Japan notified the first case of Omicron infection last month. As of December 21, a total of 85 people have been diagnosed with Omicron.

Based on “New Measures for Strengthening Border Measures (20)” (November 29, 3rd year of Reiwa), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare are supposed to specify and announce each time they confirm, “Omicron shares (B). The designated countries / regions for 1.1.529 strains of mutants) are as follows.
Ecuador, Slovakia, all over the United States, Lithuania, all over Russia from 00:00 December 23rd 2021 (Tokyo Time)
* For each state in the United States that has already been designated, it will be changed to “designated country / region for Omicron strain (variant strain of B.1.1.529 strain)” as “all over the United States” from 00:00 on December 23, 2021 (Tokyo Time).
