Global production of COVID-19 vaccines reaches 12 billion doses by the end of 2021? Rich countries are approved for hoarding vaccines.
According to Singapore’s “Zaobao” report on September 8th, the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Associations (IFPMA) stated that the cumulative global production of COVID-19 vaccines has reached 7.5 billion doses. It is estimated that major pharmaceutical companies will reach 2021.
A total of 12 billion doses of vaccine will be produced by the end of the year. According to data companies, vaccine production has become stable. If rich countries are willing to release additional vaccines they hold, vaccine production will cover the global population.
IFPMA Chairman Cooney pointed out at a press conference held in Geneva, Switzerland on the 7th that the current monthly vaccine production is about 1.5 billion doses. So far, major pharmaceutical companies have produced 7.5 billion doses of vaccine. It is estimated that by the end of 2021, A total of 12 billion doses of vaccine can be produced, and the output will double to 24 billion doses by June 2022.
Cooney said that there is still a big gap between the vaccination rates of rich countries and poor countries. Compared with rich countries, up to 70% of the adult population can receive two full doses of vaccine. In some poor countries such as Africa, there is only 6 % Of the adult population received 2 full doses of the vaccine.
Cooney believes that with the increase in vaccine production, there will no longer be countries that need to stock up vaccine stocks to avoid vaccine shortages, calling on Western countries not to be indifferent to the uneven distribution of vaccines.
