First Death in Japan: Male in His 30s Dies from “Monkeypox” Infection
Japan Saitama Prefecture has announced the death of a male in his 30s who had contracted the infectious disease known as “Monkeypox,” formerly referred to as “monkeypox.” This marks the first reported fatality from the infection nationwide.
According to Saitama Prefecture, the male who succumbed to Monkeypox resided within the prefecture. He began showing symptoms such as fever and the appearance of rashes on his body, and his infection was confirmed in September. Despite being hospitalized since then, he passed away in November.
There is no record of overseas travel for the deceased individual.
According to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Monkeypox was first identified in Japan in July of last year, with a total of 227 reported cases nationwide. This incident represents the first documented death among Monkeypox patients in the country.
