Global Infectious Disease Monthly Report (July 2023)
As the process of global integration advances, infectious diseases are spreading rapidly and impacting human society to a greater extent.
To curb the spread of infectious diseases worldwide, it is crucial for public health systems to dynamically monitor the incidence of new infections.
In order to systematically understand the regional development trends of various infectious diseases worldwide, researchers publish their findings in the Zoonoses Journal, providing valuable insights for researchers to stay updated on the evolving situation of infectious diseases in different regions.
Utilizing Shusi Tech’s Global Epidemic Information Monitoring System, we analyzed the morbidity rates of global infectious diseases from June 24, 2023, to July 23, 2023, and attempted to comprehensively describe other less prevalent types of infectious diseases.
The latest issue titled “Global Infectious Diseases in July 2023: Monthly Analysis” has been published in the Zoonoses Journal, and it primarily includes the following four points:
1. This month’s report compiles global data on various infectious diseases, including COVID-19, monkeypox, cholera, dengue fever, measles, influenza, tuberculosis, and more.
To better illustrate the global epidemiological situation of these diseases, we have visualized them in the form of world maps (Figure 1).
Figure 1. Global distribution of infectious diseases from June 24, 2023, to July 23, 2023.
2. Despite the WHO’s declaration that the novel coronavirus no longer constitutes a global public health emergency, COVID-19 continues to spread widely in underdeveloped regions.
Therefore, this paper summarizes and analyzes the daily new and death case counts of COVID-19 for each continent from June 24, 2023, to July 23, 2023, along with their trends (Figure 2).
Figure 2. Daily new confirmed and death cases of COVID-19 across continents globally. A, C: New cases and deaths by region; B, D: Proportions of new cases and deaths attributed to COVID-19 by region.
3. According to the analysis of WHO data, monkeypox cases reported in recent months have mainly seen minor growth in regions like the Americas and the Western Pacific, with new cases primarily transmitted through same-sex sexual activity. This paper compiles and analyzes the new confirmed and death cases of monkeypox across continents from June 24, 2023, to July 23, 2023 (Figure 3).
Figure 3. New confirmed monkeypox cases recorded from June 24, 2023, to July 23, 2023. Confirmed and death cases of monkeypox by continent.
4. Additionally, this paper presents outbreak cases of other infectious diseases such as cholera, dengue fever, measles, and influenza worldwide in tabular form. It also analyzes the reasons for the high incidence of infectious diseases such as influenza, cholera, measles, and dengue fever in countries like the United States, Australia, Brazil, and others.
