COVID-19 Not Over: BC Canada Reinstates Mask Mandate from October 3rd
As autumn arrives, BC’s hospitals brace for a flu and COVID-19 resurgence, prompting the reinstatement of partial mask mandates from October 3rd.
Starting October 10th, a vaccination campaign kicks off, with priority groups receiving invites throughout October.
BC’s Chief Medical Officer, Bonnie Henry, warns of rising respiratory infections, including COVID-19. Basic precautions like mask-wearing, hand hygiene, and distancing are emphasized.
From October 3rd, all healthcare personnel, volunteers, contractors, and residents in patient care areas must wear masks. Visitors to long-term care centers must also mask up.
With 15,000 healthcare workers on sick leave weekly, up from 9,000 pre-pandemic, the need for precautions is clear.
BC’s COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths have risen over the past month. The situation is alarming.
Vaccines arrive in early October, prioritizing the elderly, indigenous populations, pregnant individuals, those with underlying conditions, and healthcare workers. Others can get vaccinated from October 10th, with the option of dual flu and COVID-19 shots.
