Malaysia and China signed agreement for COVID-19 vaccines
Malaysia and China signed a cooperation agreement to develop a safe and effective vaccines for COVID-19. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation issued a joint statement today (18th), which is the announcement.
Carey, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, and Wang Zhigang, Minister of Science and Technology of China, signed the agreement through a virtual ceremony.
The high-level committee headed by the two foreign ministers, namely Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, will monitor the implementation of the agreement. This is also an agreement reached on October 13 to promote Practical cooperation to ensure a more coordinated response to the COVID-19 pneumonia pandemic.
In response to the COVID-19 pneumonia pandemic, Carey and Wang Yi had agreed to launch scientific diplomacy to improve cooperation at the earlier bilateral virtual meeting.
According to the agreement, Malaysia will give priority to the COVID-19 pneumonia vaccine developed by China, share knowledge and expertise, and promote scientific and technological capabilities to promote vaccine development between the two countries.
The two countries will also support the public and private sectors, such as universities, institutions and social organizations to participate in joint cooperation projects.
The two governments also agreed that the two countries support and encourage their companies to establish comprehensive cooperation in vaccine research and development and supply.
After bilateral agreement, the agreement is initially valid for 5 years, and the validity period is automatically extended by 1 year each time.
