The world first case: Simultaneous infection with Monkeypox COVID-19 and AIDS.
According to a report by BNO News on Aug 24th, a report published in the Journal of Infection, a publication of the British Infection Association, showed that a man in Italy had positive test results for all monkeypox, COVID-19 and HIV at the same time.
According to the researchers, the 36-year-old Italian man had been on a short trip in Spain and developed fever, fatigue, headache, groin inflammation and other symptoms about 9 days after the trip.
Three days after these symptoms appeared, he tested positive for the new coronavirus. The man had contracted Covid-19 after being vaccinated in January this year.
Within hours of testing positive for Covid-19, he developed a rash on his left arm, and over the next few days, the blisters spread all over his body.
He then went to the emergency room of a hospital in Catania. He later tested positive for monkeypox, COVID-19 and HIV, and had a high HIV viral load.
The patient was discharged nearly a week later with some small scars.
Because this is the only case of monkeypox, Covid-19 and HIV infection at the same time, there is not enough evidence to support whether the combination worsens the patient’s condition, the researchers said.
