Not alarmist: Cephalosporin with alcohol is fatal.
These are not alarmist talks, but painful lessons that have happened around me!
Some time ago, a woman took cephalosporin by herself after catching a cold.
Originally this was normal, but she went out to party with friends and drank alcohol that night.
After returning home, the woman cried out that she was uncomfortable, her whole body was limp, and she had difficulty breathing.
Fortunately, he was sent to the hospital in time for rescue, and his life was out of danger.
Cephalosporin with alcohol is fatal. It’s really not a joke!
Some chemical components of cephalosporin can interfere with the metabolism of acetaldehyde, causing a large amount of acetaldehyde to accumulate in the body, resulting in a poisoning reaction.
Some patients may experience chest tightness, shortness of breath, throat edema, and difficulty breathing; some patients may experience increased heart rate, decreased blood pressure, trance or hallucinations, and flushing of the face; severe cases may experience anaphylactic shock and even life-threatening.
Which drugs cannot be taken with alcohol?
Cephalosporin antibiotics
After taking cephalosporins or anti-inflammatory injections of cephalosporins, drinking alcohol will cause breathing difficulties, increased heart rate, decreased blood pressure, facial flushing, etc., and severe anaphylactic shock may occur!
Sedative hypnotics
Under the action of ethanol, the concentration of sedative and hypnotic drugs such as phenobarbital and chloral hydrate in the blood will increase rapidly, prompting patients to have serious adverse reactions such as coma, shock, respiratory failure, and death.
Antipyretic and analgesic
This type of medicine itself has irritating and damaging effects on the gastric mucosa, and alcohol also hurts the stomach. The two-pronged approach can cause gastritis, gastric ulcer, and gastric bleeding.
Antihypertensive drugs
If you drink alcohol while taking antihypertensive drugs, it may cause vasodilation, resulting in hypotensive shock, which can be life-threatening in severe cases.
Hypoglycemic agents
During insulin injection or oral hypoglycemic drugs, if you drink alcohol on an empty stomach, hypoglycemia reaction is more likely to occur, and severe cases can lead to hypoglycemia coma.
Antidepressants
The combination of antidepressants and alcohol can make people feel sleepy, reduce judgment, physical coordination and reaction time, and even worsen depression.
Antiangina drugs
When mixed with alcohol, it can cause excessive expansion of blood vessels, leading to severe headaches, sudden drops in blood pressure and even shock.
Note: Some medicines contain alcohol, such as Huoxiang Zhengqi water, ten drops of water, compound camphor tincture, belladonna tincture, etc. It is not recommended to combine with the above medicines. During the medication period, avoid eating such as alcohol, bonbon chocolate, fermented vinegar, fermented bean curd, etc., as well as various rice wine and white wine dishes such as beer duck.
Drinking alcohol hurts the body, taking medicine + drinking alcohol = “killing”.
Here is a special reminder, do not drink alcohol or take alcoholic beverages or food during the period of taking the drug and within one week after the drug is stopped!
Remind again: drink alcohol without taking medicine! Take medicine and not drink alcohol!
