Neutralization titer against Omicron in serum after the 3rd dose of inactivated vaccine.
As the new coronavirus Omicron mutant strain spreads around the world and has a very strong immune escape, it is very important to study the neutralizing antibody level after the booster vaccination of the inactivated virus vaccine, especially the neutralizing activity of Omicron.
On December 18, 2021, Shanghai Ruijin Hospital reported in medRxiv the neutralization titer of Omicron in serum after the third dose of BBIBP-CorV inactivated vaccine.
The study enrolled 292 medical staff and used pVNT50 to evaluate the serum neutralization activity.
Studies have shown that 8-9 months after inoculation with the second dose of BBIBP-CorV, the serum completely lost its neutralizing activity against the original strain.
After the third dose of inoculation, the level of neutralization titer increased significantly; the neutralizing GMT at 28 days after the third dose was 6.1 times higher than the GMT at 28 days after the second dose .
The researchers also tested the neutralizing titer of the vaccinators’ serum against the original strain of the new coronavirus and the mutant strain of Omicron, and showed that after the third dose of BBIBP-CorV inoculation, the neutralizing titer against the original strain was 295, which was only for Omicron. It is 14.7 (10 is the detection limit).
