At 4:45 in the morning on the 19th local time, an oxygen equipment explosion occurred in the intensive care unit for patients with new coronavirus pneumonia in the Sanko University Hospital, Gaziantep Private Hospital. At that time, the ward was treating 19 severely ill patients with new coronavirus pneumonia. After the explosion, 7 people died on the spot and 1 died of injuries. The remaining patients were then urgently transferred to other hospitals for treatment. Up to now, 3 people have deteriorated and died.

Turkish Minister of Health Koca and Minister of Justice Gul rushed to Gaziantep after the accident and held a press conference on the same day. Attorney General Gul stated that the prosecution will thoroughly investigate the cause of the accident and investigate whether there is any negligence. A task force consisting of two prosecutors and an expert committee is currently investigating.
