Stem cell treatment of premature ovarian failure

Stem cell treatment of premature ovarian failure

Stem cell treatment of premature ovarian failure, the patient smoothly gave birth to a healthy baby.Stem cell therapy shows great potential for clinical application.

Introduction: In recent years, stem cell treatment of premature ovarian failure has become a hot spot in clinical research and has achieved preliminary results.

Premature ovarian failure: Women have symptoms of ovarian failure such as oligomenorrhea, amenorrhea, and infertility before the age of 40, and the level of estrogen in the serum is decreased and the level of gonadotropin is increased.

This phenomenon is called premature ovarian failure. The clinical diagnostic criteria are: amenorrhea for at least 4 months before the age of 40, and the follicular phase serum test 2 or more times (check interval is not less than 1 month) all indicate the serum follicle stimulating hormone FSH level>40U/L, often accompanied by Estradiol E2<73.2pmol/L.

Premature ovarian failure accounts for 10% to 28% in primary amenorrhea, and 4% to 18% in secondary amenorrhea, and the incidence is increasing year by year. At this stage, hormone replacement therapy is mainly used as a conventional method, but the effect is not obvious, and stem cell therapy allows patients with premature ovarian failure to deliver healthy babies smoothly.

Stem cell therapy case

In order to evaluate the effect of stem cell treatment on patients with premature ovarian failure, the researchers selected 10 patients with premature ovarian failure, with an average age of 26-33 years old, and treated these patients with stem cells. Laparoscopically injected bone marrow MSCs preparations into the ovaries. Ovarian reserve evaluation indicators include partial endometrial biopsy (histopathological and immunohistochemical staining) and ovarian reserve score (EORS).

Stem cell treatment results: 2 patients resumed menstruation after 3 months after stem cell treatment. One patient’s EORS score increased from 0 to 5; the other patient’s EORS score increased from 0 to 7 after 10 months of stem cell treatment. Naturally She was pregnant and successfully delivered a healthy full-term baby (3.3 kg) after 38 weeks of gestation.

Summary: Stem cell therapy has shown great potential for clinical application and is considered to be a good method for patients with premature ovarian failure to hopefully obtain a healthy pregnancy and baby.
