Studies have shown that good sleep habits can increase life expectancy by 4.7 years for men and 2.4 years for women. Compared with people with 0-1 good sleep factors, those with 5 had a 30% lower risk of all-cause death, a 21% lower risk of cardiovascular disease death, a 19% lower risk of cancer death, and a 19% lower risk of death from cardiac causes, the study found . 40% less likely to have causes other than disease or cancer, including infections, neurodegenerative diseases, and more .

The researchers say these findings underscore that it’s not enough to just get enough sleep, you really have to be getting restful sleep and not having too much trouble falling asleep and staying asleep.
