Japan Confirmed 29 Fatalities Linked to COVID-19 Vaccination

Health Ministry Recognizes 74 Cases, Including Fatalities, Linked to COVID-19 Vaccination.

The Japan  Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare has released the deliberation results of the Infection and Vaccination Review Subcommittee of the Disease and Disability Certification Review Committee, held on January 26.

Regarding 116 cases of individuals who received the COVID-19 vaccine, the subcommittee examined the causal relationship between vaccination and conditions such as preventive measures, diseases, and disabilities.

Of these, 74 cases were recognized, while 42 were denied. Among the 74 recognized cases, 29 were instances of death, with no cases placed on hold.

 

The claims included 40 cases (29 approved) for “death benefits and funeral expenses,” 45 cases (38 approved) for “medical expenses and medical allowances,” 29 cases (6 approved) for “disability pensions,” and 2 cases (1 approved) for “funeral expenses.”

Including the latest deliberation results, a total of 10,090 cases have been accepted for review, with 5,965 cases approved, 1,044 cases denied, and 63 cases placed on hold.

The Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare released the results of the deliberations of the third committee of the Infectious Diseases and Vaccination Health Damage Review Committee on September 25, 2023.

The Health Ministry disclosed the outcomes of the deliberations of the third committee of the Infectious Diseases and Vaccination Health Damage Review Committee, a subcommittee of the Disease and Disability Certification Review Committee on Infectious Diseases and Vaccination (held on the 22nd). Out of 79 cases of individuals who received the COVID-19 vaccine, the subcommittee deliberated on the causal relationship between vaccination and diseases or disabilities. As a result, they recognized 74 cases, denied 3 cases, and put 2 cases on hold. Among the 74 recognized cases, 50 were fatalities.

Examining the 74 recognized cases by age, there were 21 cases each in the 70s and 80s age groups, 9 cases in the 60s age group, 8 cases in the 50s age group, 6 cases in the 90s age group, and 3 cases each in the 10s and 20s age groups. Additionally, there were 2 cases in the 40s age group and 1 case in the 30s age group.

Regarding the names of diseases or disabilities, they included conditions such as intestinal obstruction, sudden death, cerebral infarction, cardiac arrest, brainstem hemorrhage, ventricular fibrillation, attention disorders, speech disorders, swallowing disorders, cerebellar infarction, cerebellar hemorrhage, cardiopulmonary arrest, aspiration pneumonia, aortic dissection, acute heart failure, acute myocarditis, …
