They will get cancer if cancer cells are injected into healthy people?

They will get cancer if cancer cells are injected into healthy people?

They will get cancer if cancer cells are injected into healthy people? The scientist did a bold experiment.

If a pregnant woman has cancer, will the baby in her belly suffer too?

The traditional view is that the baby’s immune system has a suppressive effect, and cancer infection will not occur. But in 2009, a Japanese woman was diagnosed with advanced leukemia during her pregnancy and gave birth to a baby girl. The woman died of hemorrhage. The baby girl was also diagnosed with leukemia when she was 11 months old .

Therefore, some people believe that the leukemia of the baby girl is transmitted by the mother.

So, is cancer really contagious? On this issue, some scientists have done experiments.

1. Can cancer be caused by injecting cancer cells into a healthy human body?

If cancer cells are injected into a healthy person, will it cause cancer to spread?

In 1951, the American Herita Larks died of cervical cancer. Researchers extracted her cancer cells for medical research and named them “HeLa cells.”

Studies have found that when mice are injected with HeLa cells, the mice will develop cancer . So if the researchers who come into contact with HeLa cells every day accidentally inject the HeLa cells into the body, will there be a risk of cancer transmission?

Thinking of this, the medical scientist Chester Southam decided to conduct human experiments.

They will get cancer if cancer cells are injected into healthy people?

In 1954, Chester Southam found a leukemia patient, concealed the truth, and injected HeLa cells into the patient’s body . Later, he found more than a dozen patients and performed the same operation.

A few days after the injection, a swelling and swelling appeared on the patient’s arm , which was confirmed to be a malignant tumor. However, after a month, these lumps gradually subsided, and only one patient died of the spread of cancer cells. Chester Southam believes that the death of this patient was caused by his own cancer and had nothing to do with the injection of cancer cells.

At that time, due to the special social environment, Chester Southam was able to conduct further experiments on healthy human bodies .

He recruited 65 prisoners and injected them with HeLa cells several times in a few months. The results showed that the immune systems of these 65 prisoners had defeated the foreign cancer cells, and as the number of injections increased, the time for the prisoners to reduce their swelling became shorter and shorter , indicating that the corresponding antibodies had been produced in the body.

The final result showed that human cancer cells will not be infected by injection . Because cancer cells also develop from normal cells, the body will undergo immune rejection to identify and eliminate foreign cancer cells.

2. Cancer cells are not contagious, but these are contagious

A study by The Lancet Global Health showed that in 2018, 13% of new cancers in the world were caused by infectious pathogens . Among these infectious pathogens, 4 types are the most important: Helicobacter pylori, human papilloma virus, hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus.

  • Helicobacter pylori, which mainly causes non-cardia gastric cancer, cardia gastric cancer and gastric non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, about 810,000 cases;
  • Human papillomavirus, which mainly causes cervical cancer and some oropharyngeal cancer, anal cancer, penile cancer, etc., with approximately 690,000 cases;
  • Hepatitis B virus, which mainly causes liver cancer, has about 360,000 cases;
  • Hepatitis C virus, which mainly causes liver cancer and other non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas, accounts for about 160,000 cases.

1) Helicobacter pylori

Helicobacter pylori belongs to a class of carcinogens, which are mainly transmitted through the digestive tract, and the mode of transmission is oral transmission. Split meals, regular disinfection of dishes and chopsticks, pay attention to oral hygiene, wash your hands before and after meals, and exercise, etc., can help prevent Helicobacter pylori infection.

2) Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)

HPV is a large family, and more than 100 genotypes have been discovered so far.

Women have an 80% chance of contracting HPV in their lifetime , but most of them will be cleared by the immune system. If the high-risk HPV virus persists , it will increase the risk of cervical cancer. HPV is mainly transmitted through sex, and HPV vaccine injection is an effective preventive method. In addition, we must pay attention to sexual hygiene, and regularly conduct TCT inspections or TCT combined with HPV inspections.

3)Hepatitis B virus

some countries is a major hepatitis B country, accounting for about 1/3 of the world’s chronic hepatitis B virus infections. Sexual transmission, blood transmission and mother-to-child transmission are the main modes of transmission.

After being infected with hepatitis B virus, if antiviral treatment is not given in time, it may further lead to liver cirrhosis and liver cancer. Vaccination of hepatitis B vaccine is the main method to prevent hepatitis B virus infection. In addition, avoid sharing syringes with others and ensure safe sex.

4) Hepatitis C virus

Hepatitis C virus is similar to hepatitis B virus. The main modes of transmission are sexual transmission, blood transmission, and mother-to-child transmission. At present, there is no vaccine against hepatitis C in clinical practice. Therefore, after infection with hepatitis C virus, regular antiviral treatment should be carried out in time to reduce the risk of liver cancer.

3. Be wary of 2 major “family cancers”

In addition to carcinogenic pathogens, some bad habits can also lead to the emergence of “family cancer”. At present, the more common “family cancers” are gastrointestinal cancer and lung cancer.

Gastrointestinal cancer

Gastric cancer, esophageal cancer, colorectal cancer and other gastrointestinal cancers are closely related to lifestyle habits and living environment. Studies have found that members of the esophageal cancer family have the same characteristics in their eating habits , such as insufficient animal protein intake, frequent consumption of moldy food, and preference for hot food.

In addition, if more than one person has Helicobacter pylori infection, it will also increase the risk of stomach cancer in family members.

Lung cancer

Smoking is the main high-risk factor for lung cancer. In addition, second-hand smoke and third-hand smoke increase the risk of lung cancer in family members . Therefore, in families with more than one person smoking, the risk of lung cancer in their family members will be greatly increased.

The detection of cancer in the family is already heartbreaking. If a “family cancer” occurs, it will be a fatal blow to any family. Cancer is not contagious in nature, but we still cannot relax our vigilance in the prevention of cancer, especially to avoid “family cancer.”
